Important Information regarding electronic Working Holiday Maker applications
How long does it take to get the visa?
Please allow sufficient time before your intended departure date to apply for this visa. The processing time may vary from 48 hours up to several weeks. We strongly recommend that you do not make any travel arrangements before your visa has been granted.
Do I need a visa label in my passport?
Please note that if you lodge your application online you do not require a visa label in your passport in order for you to be able to travel to Australia. If you require evidence of your visa to show to an employer in Australia, you may go to your nearest office of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship in order to get a visa label put into your passport. If you arrive at Sydney international airport, you may get your visa label at the airport.

My travel plans have changed and I only want to enter Australia as a visitor, not as a Working Holiday Maker, what should I do?
You can apply for an electronic Tourist Visa (e676) or eVisitor (e651): the grant of the visitor visa will cause the Working Holiday visa to cease. You may re-apply for the WHM visa again as long as it has not been used to enter Australia.
Note: If you wish to obtain an ETA (electronic travel authority) for a short visit, you must contact the WHM helpdesk to have your WHM visa cancelled before you can enter using the ETA. The ETA will not come into effect until the WHM visa is cancelled.

I lodged my application a long time ago and still have not received a response?
Before you make an enquiry, please check the status of your online application. This will tell you whether you still need to provide further documents/information to complete your application. If your application is complete but has not been finalised, please contact the relevant helpdesk in Australia or the general visa enquiries service in Berlin for assistance.

My passport got stolen / lost, and I obtained a new passport after lodging my Working Holiday Maker visa application. What should I do?
You must advise the department of the new passport details. You may do so either by email or by faxing a copy of the personal details page of your new passport. You should also include your TRN number and indicate the date and place where previous passport was stolen or misplaced.
